Took the S2000 out for a spin tonight to practise Lightpainting. I’m down at Goodwood this weekend, so might try some in the Paddock if I get a chance Saturday evening. So figured this week was a good time to learn. What do we think:

Kinja'd!!!

I was surprised how much Lens Flare the sidelight generated.

Kinja'd!!!

Even more lens flare, and a very mucky S2000. I’ll be giving in a quick wash to remove the bird poop before the weekend.

Yeah not gonna lie I didn’t stick around too long at the carpark (where the second picture was taken). Slighty spooky

You should post on http://photography.kinja.com/

I can share if you want. Tbh I only use my 5S phone camera so I can't give any technical advice. Otherwise, I really like the top one. The lens flare on the bottom one makes it a little busy for me. What can you do to fix it?

that 2nd pic especially looks like a professional Honda print ad shot

Very cool. I’ve been meaning to try this. And someone on here(I forget who) did a front on shot and reversed the car making a trail with the headlights. Want to try that with my 240D.

This was my attempt at a sort of light painting.

The idea of a drawing that doesn’t exist anywhere but in pictures fascinated me.

I was surprised with how well they turned out for me. Never done it before but seemed to work out. I had a couple of shots where cars drove through, but that didn’t turn out great. Think my ISO was too high for that.

Thanks! I always mean to visit photography but oppo just comes so easily ha.

Yeah I agree, and with all the trees quite bright too I prefer the first. Not sure how to fix the lens flare, other than just switching off the side lights anyway.

Keeping the light source pointed away from the camera will help reduce the light streaks. What settings did you use?

Iso 200, F14, and Bulb at a shutter length that was pretty much however long it took me to walk round the car.

Tried 100 and 400 ISO, and F8, but those settings seemed to work pretty well. Might go out again this evening for round 2, to see how it comes up.
